The Protestant is one of religion in this world. It is as part of Christianity because Protestants followers believe in Jesus. The history of Protestant was started by a reformer, Martin Luther. He was a German theologian. Why he did reformation? It was because there were so many activities in Catholic Religion that did not fixed in Christianity and far from what the Bible said. At that time, the leaders of country became the leader of church so the people were afraid to the leaders. They had to follow what the leader said even though it was wrong.
Martin Luther did not want to follow the wrong thing. He just wanted to follow what the Bible said. That was why he came to front to do reformation. He did the Protestant Reformation with his publication in October 31, 1517. This publication was called his Ninety-Five Theses. Martin Luther protested against the power of the pope and the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.
Luther felt that the spirit of Christianity does not because the involved organization headed by the pope, but it is in each person’s direct communication with God. He also said people needed only faith and the Bible to guide the live of Christian followers. Luther protested the way of Roman Catholic Church to get salvation. He said that every Christian people can directly talk to God to get decrease of penalty and guilt. They also can confess their sins, even without letters of pardon from the pope (the top religious leader). Pope and the papal pardons are not able to remove the sins. The true treasure of the Church is the Most Holy Gospel of the glory and the grace of God.
Since that time, his ideas spread and there were groups of people left the Roman Catholic Church to form their own churches. Since that time they were called Protestants. In England, the King Henry VIII led the protest and established the Protestant Church of England.
The movement to reform Christianity is remembered as the Protestant Reformation. As a result of the Reformation, there are Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians, and many other Protestant groups. Today there are a lot of people in the world call themselves Christians.
As a conclusion, the Protestant is a part of Christianity. The believe in God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit.
